European Commission financing, besides favouring synergy with scientific research centres and international operators, is currently the main means by which to develop technological innovation and therefore the competitiveness of Italian companies. At the moment, the agreement involves 12 leading national logistics organisations and university research centres: Assologistica Associazione Italiana Imprese Logistica, Cieli Centro Italiano Eccellenza Logistica Integrata and Genoa University, Cip Consorzio Innovazione Pubblica (the operating unit for the Consorzio Multicon), C Log Centro Ricerca Logistica at the Carlo Cattaneo Liuc University, Consorzio Zai Interporto Quadrante Europa, Crimm Centro Ricerca Modelli Mobilità at Cagliari University, Ctl Centro Ricerca Trasporto Logistica at the La Sapienza University, the “Luigi Tocchetti” Engineering Transport Dept. at Federico II University, the Fondazione Itl Istituto Trasporti Logistica, the Isfort Istituto Superiore Formazione Ricerca Trasporti, the Scuola Nazionale Trasporti Logistica, Transmit Centro Studi Ricerche Mobilità Infrastrutture Trasporti at Verona University. The cluster will be officially presented in Verona on 28th February at Transpotec Logitec - the International Integrated Transport Logistics Exhibition. This presentation coincides with the start of a road show for Italian companies operating in the transport logistics sector which, through the initiative, will be able to benefit from the financing to create their own technological innovation programmes. The common denominator for all projects will be platforms represented by logistics centres, freight terminals or technological poles, since these infrastructures are able to ensure the right hatching period for ideas and projects. The cluster's activities are coordinated by a Technical Scientific Commission consisting of 23 highly qualified experts from the transport and logistics sector. All the projects will need to be adequately supported and assisted and therefore the German company, Dekra, has been nominated as advisor.
